James Logan High School hosts Winter Guard International Regionals this weekend (3/16 & 3/17/19)

James Logan High School will be hosting a 2-day Regional competition for Winter Guard International (WGI) this weekend.  Prelims will be held on Saturday (3/16) with winners in each category advancing to the Sunday competition (3/17). There are over 50 participating schools from all over California in the competition.

Color Guard is a combination of the use of flags, sabers, mock rifles, and other equipment, as well as dance and other interpretive movement. Winter color guards can be found in high schools, middle schools, universities, and other independent organizations, some of which are related to drum corps.

 

The event will be held at the Guy Emanuele Jr. Pavilion.

Saturday Prelims – $15

Sunday Finals – $18

Sat. & Sun. Combo – $25

Watch James Logan World Guard at the 2009 WGI Championships!

WGI was founded in 1977 to draw together the growing winter guard activity, standardize rules, and provide leadership and guidance. The WGI events showcase youth activities in pursuit of high standards of achievement. Events include about 60 Regionals and Power Regionals, which lead to the three-day World Championships that evaluate more than 350 guards, 250 percussion ensembles, and 40 winds groups.

The Color Guard World Championships will be held in Dayton, Ohio on April 3-6, 2019.
